Tuxford Neighbourhood Plan

The production of the Tuxford Town Neighbourhood Plan is being led by a Steering Group comprising of a small Working Party of local volunteers , with the support of the Tuxford Town Council.
The success of the plan will rely on ongoing input and support from local residents, businesses, land owners, and other organisations active within the parish.
Opportunities will be provided for ALL members of the community to engage in and inform the production of the plan.

If YOU would like to get involved in the process, have your say on future development, and help the Town Council to plan the future of the area then please engage in the consultation activities over the next few months or email us:

The Neighbourhood Plan for Tuxford

What is a Neighbourhood Plan?

Neighbourhood Plans are a means by which local communities can have some control over future planning developments. They cannot prevent new developments but they can dictate what form those developments may take, for example affordable starter homes rather than "executive" luxury housing or in-fill rather than greenfield developments. When passed and approved by the local authority they are a legally enforceable document.

What is the process?

The Town Council or a delegated sub-committee, (as is the case in Tuxford), of councillors and local residents are responsible for a process of public consultations and surveys to establish what sort of housing developments residents would like to see in their neighbourhood. Just as importantly, what they don't want to see developed. As a result of these consultations a Neighbourhood Plan is drafted and presented to the Town Council for approval or redrafting. When approved the Council submits the Plan to the District Council for their approval. An important point here is that when drafting the Plan it must be consistent with the District Councils overall Plan for Bassetlaw. When passed by the District Council the Plan then must go to an external assessor before reaching the final stage of a referendum for residents to either approve or reject the Plan. We currently have a Neighbourhood Plan but we are now in the process of arranging a consultation for SITE ALLOCATIONS. This is required by the end of September 2019.

What are the next stages?

The Draft Bassetlaw Plan proposes the development of 241 new homes in Tuxford over the next 15 years.

Following a local 'call for sites' earlier this year, we are now keen to share the submitted sites with you and to understand your views on their potential at two upcoming consultation events:

WEDNESDAY 11th SEPTEMBER 2019 1100-1700 - COMPLETED

St Nicholas's Church, Lincoln Road, Tuxford, NG22 0DU

THURSDAY 12th SEPTEMBER 2019 1500 - 1900 - COMPLETED

The Beeches Community Centre, Birch Court, Tuxford, NG22 0NF

* Please see the attached document at the bottom of this page for more information on the proposed sites for consideration.

More detailed maps of each of the sites will be available to view at the events, along with comment forms allowing you to express your views on if and how the sites could be developed.

Officers from Bassetlaw District Council will also be on-hand to answer any questions about the process.
